A brief history

The National Assembly of Québec and the Parliament of Catalonia signed a co-operation agreement (PDF, 53 KB) (in French) in 2002, thus creating the Québec-Catalonia interparliamentary committee. The committee generally meets every two years, alternating between Québec City and Barcelona. Since the committee's creation, discussions have focused on such subjects as language policy, information and communications technologies in the parliamentary context and agricultural policy.

Karine Graudreault

On August 28, 2022, the Lieutenant-Governor dissolved the National Assembly. The call for an election ended the 42nd Legislature.

When a legislature is dissolved, MNAs, whose terms coincide with the duration of the legislature, cease to hold office. The President and Vice-president stay in office until they are replaced or reappointed by the new Assembly.
