Petition:
Continuation of childbirth, pediatric and gynecology services at the Centre hospitalier du Suroît
Petition text
WHEREAS everyone agrees on the need for a new hospital in Vaudreuil-Soulanges to serve the population of the Vaudreuil-Dorion region and the West Island of Montreal;
WHEREAS gynecology and pediatric professionals are already relocating their practices to Vaudreuil-Soulanges and we fear an acceleration of this trend;
WHEREAS the Clinical Services Plan submitted by the CISSSMO in May 2018 offers no guarantee concerning the future of the Hôpital du Suroît and its ability to continue to provide quality health care and services to the population of the MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry and the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent;
WHEREAS there is no public transportation service between the Haut-Saint-Laurent, Beauharnois-Salaberry and Vaudreuil-Soulanges and that women and children will have to travel between 30 and 75 kilometers for their medical follow-ups;
WHEREAS a large part of the funds invested in the renovation of the Mother-Child Center at the Hôpital du Suroît came from the Hôpital du Suroît Foundation, which had solicited the population of the Haut-Saint-Laurent and Beauharnois-Salaberry by indicating the expansion of this center was among their four main priorities;
We, the undersigned, ask the government of Quebec not to transfer the childbirth, pediatric and gynecology services at the Centre hospitalier du Suroît and to maintain these local services for both the Haut-Saint-Laurent and Beauharnois-Salaberry.
