Technical Information

To browse the Assembly’s website with maximum efficiency, you will want to take note of the following information.

Minimum System Requirements

The National Assembly website has been designed with Internet development standards in mind; consequently, it is recommended that you use one of the following browsers:

  • Firefox (2.0 or higher)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (7.0 or higher)
  • Safari (3.2.1 or higher)
  • Chrome (7.0 or higher)

Page presentation may vary depending on the browser you use.

To make use of all the site’s functions,

  • you need to have JavaScript enabled
  • your browser must accept cookies

Screen Resolution

For optimal viewing, a minimum screen resolution of 1,024 pixels is recommended.

To change your screen configuration, consult the Help section of your operating system.

PDF Documents

The site’s PDF documents include the Order Papers and Notices, Votes and Proceedings, bills, publications, etc. To view, print or download such documents, you must first download the free Adobe Reader software.

For best results, version 5.1 or higher is recommended.

Only the original printed documents have legal value.

Videos and Audio Files

To watch a video or listen to an audio file, you must first download the free Microsoft Silverlight plug-in. This plug-in is compatible with most browsers used on Windows or Mac OS X. If you work with Linux, download the free Moonlight plug-in, which is designed for reading video files.

Viewing Two or More Videos Simultaneously

It is possible to watch two or more videos simultaneously in the Audio and Video section. To do so,

  1. play a video by clicking on its title in the Live tab or on its title or image in one of the tabs in the Archives zone
  2. click on "Extract viewer" in the upper right-hand corner — your browser will open a new window
  3. repeat steps 1 and 2 for each additional video you wish to watch
  4. adjust the size of each window for optimal simultaneous viewing.

This site has security features to prevent the personal information on forms, including online consultation questionnaires, from being read or intercepted by a third party. These features ensure that information remains confidential and protected in accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information.
